During the meeting, it was noted that 43% of the population is inhaled secondary tobacco smoke in public transport.
This issue is mostly refers to drivers smoking in public transport, as well as taxi drivers. However, many people do not know that smoking is prohibited inside public transport. The Code of Violations envisages a fine of 1,000 soms for this violation.
To date, 25.3% of population smoke in Kyrgyzstan, including 47.2% are men and 4.2% are women. The economic losses from tobacco consumption reached 10 billion soms in a year.
