14,000 doctors and 34,000 nurses work in state medical facilities: Deputy Health Minister

AKIPRESS.COM - 14,000 doctors and 34,000 nurses work in the state medical facilities, said the Deputy Health Minister Madamin Karatayev at the parliament committee meeting on Dec 9. Karatayev noted that 72 medical facilities need doctors.
MP Baktybek Raimkulov wondered how government is resolving the issue with the lack of doctors at the remote areas.
"Some areas have a lack of doctors, as well as disbalance is observed in Bishkek and Osh. Currently, Ala-buka, Aksy, Leilek, suzak, Ton and Manas district observe a lack of the doctors more than twice," said Karatayev.
Vice PM Altynai Omurbekova replied that to date a decree has been issued that alumnus of the medical institutes who have received education at the state expenses must work 3 years or return the funds to the state.
