Berdimuhamedov says Russia is strategic partner of Turkmenistan

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the expanded session of the government said that Russia is a strategic partner of Turkmenistan, the Russian language newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan reports. The government session was dedicated to the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the constant neutrality of Turkmenistan.
Speaking at the meeting, the Turkmen leader outlined the priorities of foreign policy of the country saying Russia and the UN as"strategic partners".
Berdimuhamedov said strengthening of traditional relations with all Central Asian countries, Afghanistan, Iran and Azerbaijan is important.
"Ashgabat pays a great attention to expansion of cooperation with Turkey," he added.
Close cooperation with China is also among the priorities of Turkmenistan, he said.
The President noted that the Turkmen side has boosted its relations with the American continent as well. Among them is the U.S., he added.
