President Tokayev makes statement on Ukraine

AKIPRESS.COM - During his visit to Germany, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made a statement on Ukraine, Khabar 24 reported, Regulation of the situation in the east of Ukraine should happen at the Normandy format, he said.
The head of state stressed that Kazakhstan is ready to be a mediator and provide a platform for resolution of the problem.
"Our first President expressed a goodwill by proposing mediatorial efforts on the territory of Kazakhstan, but, of course, we think that the problem of Ukraine should be first of all resolved at the Normandy format. We know that the session of the Normandy Four will be held in Paris on December 9. We wish success, because we are linked with Ukraine with friendly relations, cooperation. We think that the Ukrainian people are worthy of a calm, prospering life," Tokayev told a joint press conference with Angela Merkel.
In the recent interview with Deutsche Welle, Tokayev noted that what happened to Ukraine is not annexation.
"Annexation is too heavy word for Crimea," he said.
