Kyrgyzstan emphasizes importance of continued joint efforts on formalization of state borders

AKIPRESS.COM - "As never before we need to continue the joint efforts on the soonest formalization of the state borders," President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said at the second consultative meeting of the Central Asian leaders on November 29 in Tashkent. The President expressed concerns over the situation in Afghanistan and the Middle East, spread of IS ideology and that of other radical groups in the region.
"We will be able to effectively counter international terrorism and extremism only through the joint efforts. Kyrgyzstan reaffirms a strong commitment to ensuring regional security," Jeenbekov stressed.
He said one of the main issues for today is enhancement of border security.
"Despite all difficulties of this work, we need to move forward and find compromises. It is important to make all possible efforts to ensure stability on our borders. I urge to deepen cooperation between our border and customs agencies, local authorities," Jeenbekov said.
