AKIPRESS.COM - The number of citizens fastening seat belts increased in the capital, according to the study "Support safe and sustainable roads in Bishkek city" presented in Bishkek on Nov 26. The first studies were held in Feb, 2019 within a project. The campaign to inform and involve the society in fastening their seat belts and using child safety seats was launched on the basis of monitoring results.
Over 12,000 passengers on the 4 intersections of the city participated in the next monitoring in Sept and Oct.
The monitoring results showed that drivers and passengers on the front seat began to fasten more often, the same index is among passengers in the back seat. The number of parents using child safety seats increased by 7 times.
The campaign was held within the United Nations Global Road Safety Week in May 2019.
The project was developed along with Interior Ministry to increase awareness and practice of using seat belts and child seats in Bishkek.
