AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Interior of Kazakhstan Erlan Turgumbayev said investigation has been launched against former chief of special prosecutors of the General Protector's Office of Kazakhstan Olesya Keksel, Sputnik Kazakhstan reported.
The Minister noted that Keksel is in Kazakhstan today. Media earlier told that she went to Germany after resignation from the General Prosecutor's Office.
"Investigation is underway. A torture claim has been received. Therefore, to date this claim has been registered and investigation on unlawful methods has been launched. I can not speak of any investigation process, as the claim has been received from the General Prosecutor's Office," Turgumbayev said.
The criminal case is being investigated on application of torture on the claim of a businessman Erlan Nabiyev against former chief of service of the special prosecutors of the General Prosecutor's Office Olesya Keksel and a prosecutor Baurzhan Gabbasov.
Keksel earlier served as deputy head of the investigation department of the National Bureau on Fighting Corruption (anti-corruption service). She was investigating the high profile corruption cases, including the case of ex-Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov, former ministers of health and national economy Zhaksylyk Doskaliyev and Kuandyk Bishimbayev, acting Chairman of the Pharmacy Committee of the Ministry of Health Larisa Pak.
Keksel for investigations in 2017 was awarded the Aibyn order and was recognized as a "number one civil servant of the year.
In January 2018, she named as Head of special prosecutors of the General Prosecutor's Office and resigned in May 2019.
