5th International Asian Film Festival kicks off in Los Angeles

AKIPRESS.COM - The fifth International Asian Film Festival has opened in Los Angeles. The Festival has been founded by film director Sadyk Sher-Niyaz.
The chair of the jury has become star of the Turkish TV series Magnificent Century Meryem Sarah Uzerli (playing the role of Hurrem Sultan).
The opening ceremony of the Festival was attended by expats living in the United States, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to U.S. Bolot Otunbayev.
The films of the Asian world included into the Oscar longlist will be screened at the festival, including:
- Hanari, Old Capital, Grape of Joy, Thoughtlessness with You from Japan;
- Life of Music from Cabodia;
- Golden Throne, Light Keeper, Secret of the Leader from Kazakhstan;
- Hot Bread from Uzbekistan.
The films from Iran, Georgia, U.S., Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Russia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Palestine, Lebanon, China, Turkey, South Korea, Afghanistan, Syria, India are participating in the festival as well.
Kyrgyzstan will be represented by films Aurora by Bekzat Pirmatov and Tree Song by Aibek Dairbekov.
Kurmanjan Datka Queen of the Mountains film by Sadyk Sher-Niyaz will be screened on the Day of Kyrgyzstan of the Festival.
Young film director Suium Suimaliev with the film My Friend, My Enemy is participating in the Golden Globus short film contest.
