AKIPRESS.COM - The Green Salvation ecological society in Kazakhstan welocmes the statement of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who banned to build a ski resort on the territory of the Kok-Zhailau plateau, the society reported.
However, certain measures are to be taken to implement this idea, they said.
The Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resourses is ready to initiate a land return, Vice Minister Erlan Nysanbayev replied to the request of the environmentalists.
The project of construction of a ski is included in the state program on development of tourist sector of Kazakhstan for 2019-2025, which is confirmed by a decree of the government #360. The program proposes a construction of a resort and roads to it until 2023, the Green Salvation noted.
"For a full refusal from construction of the resort, a necessary amendment ito this decree is needed to cancel the activities regarding the Kok-Zhailau," the ecological society says in its statement.
The Green Salvation addressed this letter to the state bodies.
On October 29, the President Tokayev banned construction of a ski resort on the territory of Kok-Zhailau plateau.
