CIS Defense Ministers discuss multilateral cooperation

AKIPRESS.COM - The delegation led by Chief of the General Staff of Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan led by Maj. Gen. Raimberdi Duishenbiyev attended the meeting of the CIS Defense Ministers Council in Baku, Azerbaijan, on October 30. The delegations of the Defense Ministries of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan participated in the meeting.
The CIS Defense Ministers Council addressed multilateral cooperation, heard the reports on rebuffing drone attacks during the military operation against terrorists in Syria, humanitarian de-mining practice in Laos.
The Defense Ministers approved the draft of defense cooperation concept until 2025, which is aimed to bolster defense cooperation, reflects national interests and joint priorities of the CIS states in ensuring security and counteraction to current challenges and threats.
The main areas of development of the united system of control and assessment of radiation, chemical and biological situation until 2025 was approved. The suggestion to make the Military Academy of Russia the basic organization in defense officers training was approved.
