14 Kazakhstanis returned from Syria appear in court

AKIPRESS.COM - The district court in Nur-Sultan today started a process on 14 Kazakhstanis, who were returned from Syria during the Zhusan special operation, Informburo.kz reported.
Investigation found out that all of them were members of the IS terrorist organization.
They are accused of participation in terrorist activities, recruitment and terrorism propoganda, as well as other severe crimes.
Most of these men returned to Kazakhstan in May 2019. Among them are fathers with many children born out of wedlock, judge Adilkhan Shaikhaslimov said.
The National Security Committee in cooperation with other state bodies and foraign partners as part of the Zhusan operation returned 595 Kazakhstanis from Syria, including 400 children. 10 men and 5 women are among those sentenced for participation in the IS activities banned in Kazakhstan.
