Kyrgyz foreign minister attends opening of UN Climate Action Summit in New York

AKIPRESS.COM - Delegation from Kyrgyzstan led by Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov attended the informal meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia member states on Sept 23 in New York.
Kyrgyzstani delegation is participating in the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
The informal meeting addressed results of the 5th CICA summit held in Dushanbe on 15 June 2019, action plan for 2020, and other organizational issues.
Aidarbekov said Kyrgyzstan as a member of the CICA adheres to the objectives and principles of the Meeting on Strengthening Mutual Confidence, Cooperation and Strengthening of Regional Security, Friendship Relations and Co-operation with Other CICA Member States.
The same day, Aidarbekov attended the opening of the UN Climate Action Summit, held at the initiative of UN Secretary-General António Guterres to boost ambition and accelerate actions to implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
Leaders from government, business and civil society attended the 2019 Climate Action Summit on 23 September with plans to address the global climate emergency. The Summit will spark the transformation that is urgently needed and propel action that will benefit everyone.
Aidarbekov also met with his counterparts from Guyana, Laos and Maldives on the sidelines of his trip to New York.
