Center-2019 exercises kicks off in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Sept. 18, 2019. / Kabar /. On Sept. 16, 2019, the opening of the Center-2019 strategic command and staff exercises was held at the Edelweiss training ground of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, the General Staff of the country’s Armed Forces reported.
The Center-2019 exercises are to be held on Sept. 16 - 21, 2019 with the participation of military contingents of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, India and China in several states. In total, almost 130,000 people, more than 20,000 units of military equipment and weapons, and about 600 aircraft will be involved in the exercises.
It should be noted that the main actions will be held at the military training grounds of the Russian Federation. A number of tactical episodes will also be worked out in the territories of the countries participating in the exercises, including the Edelweiss training center of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, where units and the operational group of the Russian Defense Ministry arrived.
The drill aims to work out the skills of interstates coalition forces in challenging global terrorism and "ensuring security in the Central Asian strategic direction", as well as to "strengthen the cooperation with the allies."
