Ex-Chief of Kazatomprom Mukhtar Zhakishev refused being released on parole

AKIPRESS.COM - The court of East Kazakhstan region rejected the petition of Mukhtar Zhakishev on the decision to refuse to release on parole, Vlast.kz reported.
The judge did not find any grounds for changing the decision.
During the hearing, the attorney of Zhakishev expressed untrust to the regional court.
Zhakishev has been service his sentence for more than ten years. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison for corruption.
Recently, the international human rights organization Freedom House called on Kazakhstan to immediately release the former head of Kazatomprom. On the same day, activists rallied in Almaty.
