Kazhydromet reveals extremely high pollution in Tokpan lake where mass fish die-off occurred

AKIPRESS.COM - Specialists of Kazhydromet held an unscheduled water sample selection in three sites of the Tokpan lake in Aral district of Kyzylorda region, where 6.4 tons of fish were killed recently, Informbureau reported.
The laboratory analysis showed extremely high contamination in the lake on dissolved oxygen.
"The analysis of quality of water is being made on 22 physico-chemical indicators, including main ions, biogenic, organic, inorganic substances, heavy metals. According to the results of the laboratory analysis, extremely high pollution of dissolved oxygen was recorded - 1.67-2.88 mg / dm3," Kazhydromet said in a statement.
Kazhydromet added that the other parameters revealed no problems.
The Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan on September 6 reported about the fish die-off in the Tokpan lake in the amount of more than 6 tons.
