April 7 Victims Mosque operating as normally, no checks conducted – General Prosecutor’s Office

AKIPRESS.COM - The activities of April 7 Victims Mosque were not suspended and it is working in a usual mode, the General Prosecutor's Office reported on September 6. The law enforcement and prosecution bodies did not conduct any checks in the mosque, the statement says.
"In compliance with the requirements of the Constitution and the law on freedom of confession and religious organizations in the Kyrgyz Republic, our government respects religious feelings of its citizens and prevents any actions aimed at opposition and aggravation of religious relations, does not intervene the activities of religious organizations, prevents setting up any advantages or restrictions regarding their activities," the General Prosecutor's Office noted.
Investigation around former President Almazbek Atambayev determined that the April 7 Victims Mosque was built by him.
1-hectare land plot and mosque located in Bishkek are registered under the Research and Production Company "Forum" Ltd, which belonged to Atambayev, the General Prosecutor's Office said earlier.
