"Once again, Kazakh land won't be sold to foreigners": Tokayev

AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakh land will not be sold to foreigners, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared today during his address to the nation, Zakon.kz reported.
"In terms of land issues that concern the population, as a head of state, I declare once again, our land will not be sold to foreigners. We won't admit it. However, our task is to ensure effective use of lands. This issue bacomes more and more important, the problem is in low level of direct taxes for land," he said.
According to the President, many citizens, who are renting land from the government, do not work on it. A whole "layer of so-called latifundists has formed in the country, they behave like a dog on the hay", he said.
The head of state offered to seize unused lands from citizens.
"Land is our common wealth and it should belong to those, who work on it. The government and parliament should propose certain mechanisms," Tokayev said.
