AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the open joint session of the Parliament today called for toughening of punishment for some crimes. "We became keen on humanization of legislation leaving out of account the basic rights of the citizens. We should urgently toughen the punishment for sexual abuse, pedophilia, drug spreading, human trafficking and other crimes, especially against children," he said in his address to the nation.
The head of state also touched the poaching issue.
"Recent tragic events arose the problem of poaching as one of the most dangerous forms of organized crimes. I order the government to take the necessary measures on tightening the relevant law within two months," he added.
Two inspectors on July 23 received gunshots while attempting to catch the poachers and prevent killing saigas. As a result, one of them was killed before arrival of doctors. The second inspector with severe traumas was delivered to a hospital.
