Kazakhstan awards Yukiya Amano and Lassina Zebro amid International Day against Nuclear Testing

AKIPRESS.COM - Executive Secretary of preparation commission of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization Lassina Zebro, and Yukiya Amano, who served as Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency were presented awards founded by First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev for peace without nuclear weapons and global security, Kazakhstan Today reported. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the award ceremony said that members of the award committee took such a decision.
Yukiya Amano has contributed to strengthening of international security and nuclear non-proliferation, he noted.
According to him, he also played a leading role in a decision to create a Low Enriched Uranium Bank in Kazakhstan.
Lassina Zebro was heading the work on creation of the international monitoring network of the comprehensive nuclear test ban treaty, he added. He worked hard in preparation of the treaty, Tokayev noted.
