Kyrgyzstan plans to tighten responsibility for disseminating fake news

Bishkek, Aug. 29, 2019. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan plans to tighten responsibility for disseminating fake news, Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Azamat Zhamankulov told during a round table on the topic "Distribution of fake news in Kyrgyzstan".
He said that fake news is the latest trend in media space, which is currently being discussed not only in Kyrgyzstan, but around the world.
"These are materials with intentions to complicate the situation religiously, politically or ethnically. In Kyrgyzstan, it is necessary to develop some mechanisms that will deal with fake news. European countries have already begun to adopt legislation on the release of such news on social networks," the minister said.
The Minister noted that real methods of dealing with fakes, including at the legislative level, will soon be adopted. Probably penalties for those responsible will be tightened.
