AKIPRESS.COM - Every morning up to a few hundreds of people queue up in front of railway booking offices in Ashgabat in an attempt to buy tickets, Chronicles of Turkmenistan said.
People standing in line told a correspondent of "Chronicles of Turkmenistan" that only a few of them manage to purchase tickets.
Staff of the booking offices constantly warn passengers through loud speakers that no tickets are available or encourage only those with reservations to join the queue.
Large state-run institutions and organizations which send their employees on business trips are entitled to make reservations.
As a result, people start contacting high-ranking relatives and acquaintances with a request to make a booking for them.
According to those standing in the queue, problems with available train tickets occurred at the time when the online booking and sale of railway tickets was introduced in June 2019. Prices for tickets have increased. For instance, the price for a 4 berth second class sleeper for Ashgabat-Balkanabat train went up from 37 to 44 manats after digital technologies had been introduced.
