AKIPRESS.COM - Defense team of politician Omurbek Tekebayev appealed to the Supreme Court to re-consider Tekebayev's case as the new circumstances of the case have emerged.
Tekebayev was sentenced to 8 years in prison and got his property confiscated after former Russian State Duma member Leonid Mayevsky witnessed that he gave $1 million to Tekebayev to obtain shares in the mobile company Alfa Telecom.
According to Tekebayev's attorneys, Leonid Mayevsky did not withdraw $1 million from his VTB 24 account. Earlier, he said he did that in several installments - $300,000 and $700,000 - from May to July 2010 to transfer the money as a bribe for shares in MegaCom.
His bodyguard Sergei Kutukov had never given money to Tekebayev and Chotonov, he confirmed that he was not in Bishkek in July 2010, the defense team claims.
