Anti-terrorism exercises held at Kant military base

Bishkek, Aug. 16. 2019 / Kabar /. Exercises to counter terrorism were held on the territory of the Russian military base in Kant in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of military base reported.
According to the design of the exercises, a group of conditional adversaries, consisting of 25 militants, attacked the air base in order to capture weapons and headquarters of the military unit. The enemy launched an offensive in the early morning in two directions: at the first and second checkpoints. The terrorist group was armed with automatic weapons and grenades. The alarm raised all the forces and means of the air base to counter terrorist activities. Thanks to the coordinated actions of the rank and file and the professionalism of the commanders, the attack of the conditional enemy was successfully repelled.
During the exercises, the personnel of the anti-terror units worked out practical actions to block and eliminate the conditional enemy, tasks of the quick withdrawal of equipment, the ability to act and make decisions in an emergency.
During the exercises, 9 units of military equipment were involved, including two BTR-80, as well as more than 60 military personnel. To create a situation that is as close as possible to the real one, various imitation means (smoke bombs and explosive packets). In addition, within the framework of the exercises, issues of evacuation of wounded servicemen from the battlefield were worked out.
Similar exercises at the aviation base are held once a quarter, and training on a regular basis. The intensity of such events allows to increase the level of practical training of military personnel in countering terrorism, the report said.
