Issyk-Kul facing major garbage problem — regional governor

AKIPRESS.COM - There is a big problem with garbage in Issyk-Kul today, regional governor Akylbek Osmonaliyev told a press conference today.
According to him, the waste bins in some villages are designed for a number of population living there.
"Up to 1 million people visit Cholpon-Ata this July and August and there is a question how to manage the garbage. We are taking certain measures, the municipal enterprises are working on this issue, but that is not enough. This year, there are a lot of tourists, and we want to resolve this problem," Osmonaliyev noted.
The governor said this year people are trying not to throw the garbage in the undesignated areas.
Osmonaliyev called on the population to support the waste cleaning services.
He said the garbage problem will be gradually resolved.
Residents of Kashat village in Issyk-Kul earlier were complaining on problems with garbage, which is cleaned by local authorities.
