Meeting to strengthen people's unity and inter-ethnic harmony in Osh

Osh, Aug.8, 2019 /Kabar/. Yesterday, Aug.8 the Osh Mayor's Office held a dialogue meeting for employees of local-self government bodies, specialists from municipal and state enterprises and services, civil society activists, and representatives of religious organizations on the topic of "Interaction and harmony in peaceful communities".
During the event, promoting freedom of religion as one of the main factors of stability and the importance of spreading the values of religious tolerance to prevent violent extremism was raised.
"The aim of the event is to strengthen the unity of the people and inter-ethnic relations. The city of Osh is a multi-ethnic city, where each nation has its own cultural peculiarities, language and history. Despite this, we have to develop the Kyrgyz Zharany (Kyrgyz citizen) civil integration," Nazar Irsaliyev, the State Agency for Local Self-Government Inter-Ethnic Department Head said.
"The second important direction is the role of the state policy in the religious sphere, the Concept of which was adopted by the Decree of President of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2015-2020. In order to prevent conflicts of inter-ethnic and religious nature, the State Agency for Local Self-Government and Interethnic Relations together with the State Commission on Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic carry out such activities. We work closely with local self-government bodies, with our public advisory councils, which work at prevention of conflicts of inter-ethnic and religious nature," added Nazar Irsaliyev.
These dialogue meetings have already been held in Chui Oblast, they are planned in Jalal-Abad oblast in August, in early October - in Batken Oblast.
