World Billiards Championship starts in Cholpon-Ata

Cholpon-Ata, Aug.8, 2019. /Kabar/. Cholpon-Ata town, Issyk-Kul Oblast hosts the Free Pyramid World Billiards Championship. The tournament is timed to the 5th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union and will be held on Aug. 8-10.
Eurasian Economic Commission representative Daniyar Turusbekov told Kabar News Agency that about 100 athletes from over 20 countries are taking part in the sporting event.
"Every EAEU member state has its own world championship. The opening ceremony will be attended by deputy prime ministers of all EAEU countries, International Pyramid Confederation President, Deputy of the Russian State Duma Pavel Zavalny and EEC Chairman Tigran Sargsyan," he said.
In his opening speech, Almaz Sazbakov, the representative of the Government of Kyrgyzstan in the EAEU, welcomed all guests on Kyrgyz land, and noted a lot of attention is paid to billiard sports in Kyrgyzstan.
Such famous billiardists as Dastan Lepshakov, Kanybek Sagynbayev and others are participating in the championship from Kyrgyzstan.
