AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan Airways is going to sell its 8 aircrafts to repay its growing debts, centralasian.org reports. According to informed sources, two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners will be offered for sale next month. The planes were purchased at $250 million each.
Experts in transport and aviation say the Uzbekistan Airways worked despite the market laws and for this reason can't cope with its loans now.
The list of the planes to be sold includes two Boeings 767, two Boeings 757, two Boeings 767, and two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.
Despite the company sells 84% of seats for flights, which is among highest rates in the world, it is unable to repay debts, experts say.
The Uzbekistan Airways is a public monopoly financed by tax payers. Its financial condition is kept secret. Sources in the company estimate the annual revenues at around $800 million. The debt may vary between $2-3 billions.
According to Flightradar24, the fleet of Uzbekistan Airways includes 37 aircrafts.
