AKIPRESS.COM - Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov has prohibited demolishing of houses since July 27 if owners have not received compensations and notifications. Such instruction was given during the videoconference call following incidents in Kashkadarya region, when a man set the vice governor who intended to demolish his store on fire and mass protests in Urgench district, Khorezm region, where thousands of people blocked the Urgench-Khazarasp road being outraged at that they were not paid compensations for their demolished houses.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will control the problem of house demolishing personally, the Prime Minister said and added the order of demolishing has been changed since July 27.
Prior to demolishing any buildings, the region administrations will have to consult with the government.
After the incidents in Kashkadarya and Khorezm regions, several local government officials were punished.
Urgench governor and prosecutor were rebuked, governor of Yakkabag district and district prosecutor were fired. The criminal probe was launched against district vice governor for misuse of powers. Kashkadarya and Khorezm region governors received strong warning.
