Kyrgyz Border Service urges Tajik authorities to refrain from ungrounded accusations

AKIPRESS.COM - The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan responded to the statement made by the Border Troops of Tajikistan, which called the Kyrgyz-Tajik border conflict of July 22 a provocation from the Kyrgyz side in run up to the meeting of the Presidents of two countries. The State Border Serviced urged the Tajik side to keep calm and refrain from ungrounded accusations and statements that may escalate the situation on the border.
The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan suggested a joint investigation of the cause of the conflict to find those guilty and to undertake actions to prevent recurrence of the border conflicts in future.
The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan urged the Tajik side to continue building good neighborly relations and to ensure border security of two countries and the region.
The Kyrgyz-Tajik border conflict occurred on July 22. Installation of a flagpole by citizens of the Tajik village of Vorukh at the entry point to the village was opposed by Kyrgyz citizens. After verbal exchange, one of the sides used firearms. Preliminarily, five were wounded.
The Isfara-Vorukh road is closed.
