Aftermath of Kyrgyz-Tajik border conflict

AKIPRESS.COM - The law enforcement agencies and local authorities are meeting villagers from both sides to prevent escalation of the situation, Turmush reports.
The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan said earlier citizens of the Kyrgyz village of Aksai opposed installation of the flagpole by Tajik citizens. In the result of the exchange of heated arguments, people started attacking each other with stones. One of the sides used firearms. Around 100 people from both sides were involved.
The shots were fired by civilians from a hunting shotgun.
The Isfara-Vorukh road is closed now.
A 70-year-old woman told Turmush she lives in the area for more than 50 years. Such conflicts are frequent. The woman said the local authorities are unable to resolve the problem.
The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan said this morning the situation is relatively stable.
