Isfara-Vorukh road closed after Kyrgyz-Tajik border conflict

AKIPRESS.COM - The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan confirmed the firearms were used in the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border on July 22. The conflict has occurred at 5.20 pm between citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The cause of the conflict was installation of the flagpole by citizens of the Tajik village of Vorukh. Citizens of the Kyrgyz village of Aksai opposed installation of the flagpole. The villagers exchanged heated arguments and one of the sides reportedly used firearms. Shots were fired by civilians from hunting rifle. Five were wounded, the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan said.
The Isfara-Vorukh road is closed.
The Border Services of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are undertaking joint actions to prevent escalation of the conflict.
