No problems with general civil passports in Kyrgyzstan – State Registration Service head

Bishkek, July 11, 2019. /Kabar/. There are no problems with general civil passports in Kyrgyzstan, Almaz Mambetov, the Chairman of the State Registration Service of the Kyrgyz Republic told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
"We have 226 thousand passports for the population to receive them freely. That is, there are no restrictions. This number will be enough until the end of the year," he said.
Mambetov added that he signed an additional agreement with De La Rue to purchase 500 thousand passports.
The chairman of the State Registration Service also touched on the cost of driver's licenses and technical passports.
"We've conducted a tender for the purchase of technical passports. Previously, one technical passport cost EUR 10 and was pegged to this currency. Now the local company has won the tender. And now technical passports and forms will be produced for KGS 192 (about USD 2.7), which is KGS 600 cheaper," he said.
Driver's licenses used to cost EUR 12 and were also pegged to foreign currency.
"We have announced a tender for KGS 150 (USD 2.15), and that's its reasonable price," he added.
