Almaty police detain disabled woman protesting alone against Dariga Nazarbayeva

AKIPRESS.COM - Police of Almaty on July 9 arrested Kamila Shokanova, who was protesting alone against Senate Chairperson Dariga Nazarbayeva, local media report.
The disabled young woman was demanding resignation of daughter of former president Nursultan Nazarbayev for calling people with disabilities "freaks".
Dariga Nazarbayeva called the disabled people in such a way in one of her speeches in 2013 at the session of the parliamentary committee. She was talking about the results of teenage sex. In this regard, she said sending the teenagers to boarding schools for disabled persons is a good way to stop them having sex life.
Photos posted on social media showed Shokanova holding a placard saying "We are not freaks! Power to the people! Dariga, resign!"
