FM of Mongolia holds talks with Deputy FM of Italy

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs Damdingiin Tsogtbaatar on June 20 met with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Guglielmo Picchi who is participating in the High-Level Inter-Regional Conference on ‘Whole-of-Society Approach' to Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism and Radicalization that Lead to Terrorism taking place in Ulaanbaatar, Montsame said. Minister Tsogtbaatar underlined there is a breadth of opportunity to expand bilateral trade and economic ties further. In particular, a proposal was made to collaborate in bringing Mongolian-made leather, wool, and cashmere products to Italian and European markets, harmonizing the products with Italian fashion trends, and introducing European standards to Mongolia's leather industry.
Deputy Minister Guglielmo Picchi stressed the importance of organization of Mongolia-Italy business meetings and concrete actions aimed at increasing ties between entities of the two countries in expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation, voicing his hope that this year's meeting of the Mongolia-Italy Intergovernmental Commission would play a key role.
The sides exchanged views on intensifying cultural cooperation and holding a comprehensive cultural event in honor of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Italy that falls next year.
