AKIPRESS.COM - The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), Kazakhstan's regional financial services hub, says it is interested in attracting Chinese investment in the Belt and Road Initiative projects and medium-sized enterprises in central Eurasia countries, AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov said during the meeting with the executives of Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE), the AIFC reports.
The Governor and the delegation of AIFC with support from the SSE, held a presentation for more than 30 Chinese investment funds and brokers.
The SSE has become one of the primary shareholders of the Astana International Exchange(AIX) in 2017 and was engaged in developing AIFC as the regional financial services hub of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
"The AIFC was created as a regional financial hub, to connect investors with promising projects that require financing to realize their full potential. BRI is a clear and important priority for us. Another, equally promising opportunity lay with mid-cap companies in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Georgia and other countries in the region that are eager to engage with Chinese investors, and we are helping to bring them together," said AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov.
Going forward, the SSE will build on close cooperation with the AIFC and continue to work with all the relevant parties.
AIFC and AIX are aiming to provide market-oriented, diversified and sustainable investment and financing solutions as well as comprehensive investment protection for BRI projects in Kazakhstan, Central Asia and Eurasia.
