AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan wants to keep veterinary control on border with Kazakhstan fearing spread of infections, Chairman of the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Security Inspectorate Kalys Jumakanov said.
The decision of the EAEU council on acknowledging the veterinary system of Kyrgyzstan will come into force from June 1 and Kazakhstan in this regard might remove its vet control on the common borders with Kyrgyzstan, he said.
"But honestly, we would like to keep that control amid worsening epizootic situation in the world. In fact, this veterinary control does not hinder trade," he said.
"We will likely have negotiations with Kazakhstan to temporarily keep the vet control on borders, we fear spread of infections in Kyrgyzstan. We are not protection from, for example, nodular dermatitis infection. In this situation, we need vet control," he said.
