Kazakh lower house ratifies Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons

AKIPRESS.COM - Mazhilis, the lower house of the Kazakh parliament, has ratified the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
This is the first international treaty introducing the legal ban on nuclear weapons, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev said.
Senate must pass and president must sign it into law for the treaty to come into force in Kazakhstan.
The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons is the first legally binding international agreement to comprehensively prohibit nuclear weapons, with the goal of leading towards their total elimination. It was passed on 7 July 2017.
