AKIPRESS.COM - USAID has made the decision to provide $19.5 million grant to support education sector reforms in Uzbekistan, Gazeta.uz reports with reference to the Ministry of Public Education.
The grant will be used for school management reforms, in-service training of teachers preparation of learning materials that should eventually lead to improvement of student performance. Methods and strategies for enhancement of transparency and reporting at schools, improvement of school administration and delivery of services will be developed.
USAID will also provide assistance to the Ministry of Public Education in implementation of the English Speaking Nation aimed to improve English language teaching at schools through introduction of the latest teaching methods and techniques.
The grant project is one of the first projects run under the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan and the U.S. Government on cooperation in education sector support. The document was signed in Tashkent on February 27.
