AKIPRESS.COM - Public transport accounts for only 1% of almost a half-million cars in Bishkek, said professor of International Architecture Academy Aigul Nasridinova in Bishkek at a meeting of civil society activists on May 3.
The city of 1 million people has about half-million cars, which produce 80% of emissions, she said.
It is necessary to take a lot of complex measures to solve this issue. And social discord about cutting trees to expand roads and many other issues arising just proved that Bishkek does not have a complex approach, Nasridinova said.
The city lacks specialists, she noted.
"We lag behind the CIS countries for 15 years, the Europe for 50 years, and Singapore for 200 years," she added.
Prime Minister Muhamedkaliy Abilgaziyev, a number of heads of state bodies and civil activists participated in the meeting.
