Russia introduced limits on size of money transfers to Kyrgyzstan: Lawmaker

AKIPRESS.COM - Remittances from Russia in 2018 amounted to $2.67 billion or 97% of all money transfers from labor migrants abroad, according to PM Muhamedkaliy Abilgaziyev.
"You probably know that it's been 20 days already that Russia's introduced limits on the size of money transfers to Kyrgyzstan -- no more than 100,000 soms per month," MP Sagyndyk Keldibayev said. Now no more than 300,000 rubles can be taken out of the country, but before, they could take up to $10,000 out of the country, he noted.
"Is it alright in terms of the Eurasian Economic Union?" MP asked from the government.
"Free movement of capital is one of the principles of the EAEU. Russia made such a decision to protect its own financial market. We'll raise this question on April 30 at the meeting with Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev in Armenia," PM Abilgaziyev said.
No restrictions were imposed from the Kyrgyz side, he noted. "We demand sticking to the signed agreements from our main partners, too."
