Presentation of SCO Issyk-Kul Marathon held in Beijing

Bishkek, Apr. 23, 2019. / Kabar /. A presentation of the Issyk-Kul Marathon of the Kyrgyz Republic Run the Silk Road - Shanghai Cooperation Organization is held in Beijing, at the initiative of the SCO Secretariat, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
"Run the Silk Road - SCO" Issyk-Kul Marathon will be held on May 11, 2019.
The event was held as part of the presentation of the SCO marathons, where, along with the Issyk-Kul marathon, the Kunming SCO marathon was presented, which will traditionally be held in December 2019 in Yunnan Province (China).
The event was attended by SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov, Kyrgyz Ambassador to China Kanayim Baktygulova, Deputy Director of the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanatbek Arpachiev, heads and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Beijing, sports institutions in China, business circles, mass media and youth, including Kyrgyz students studying in universities of China.
Participants of the event ran a symbolic mile from Issyk-Kul Lake to Dianchi Lake (Yunnan Province, Kunming City), along which the SCO marathons will be held in 2019
Speaking with a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony, SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov noted that the SCO marathons attract hundreds of sports enthusiasts from different parts of the world and make a significant contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation between countries and peoples. He expressed confidence that the marathon on the shores of the picturesque Issyk-Kul will be one of the highlights in the framework of the presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic in the SCO.
Deputy Director of the State Agency for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports Kanatbek Arpachiyev stressed that international marathons have taken a firm place in the cultural and humanitarian segment of the SCO. In addition, he noted that the Kyrgyz athlete Adilet Kyshtakbekov became the champion of the SCO Kunming Marathon in 2017, and in 2016 and 2018, the top three winners included athlete from Kyrgyzstan Daria Maslova (2nd and 3rd places, respectively).
He emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic continues the good tradition and this year, within the framework of its chairmanship in the SCO, the International Issyk-Kul Marathon of the SCO will be held, which will include 5 distances: a marathon, a half-marathon, a 10,000-meter race, 3,000 m. 3000m walking
Vice Mayor of Kunming, Wang Jinying and Deputy Chairman of the Athletics Association of China Shui Tao wished the success to the SCO marathon.
The photo-exhibition devoted to the SCO marathons in Kunming, the Run the Silk Road marathon and the World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan, as well as performances of creative groups and people with national flavor, also aroused great interest among the participants of the presentation.
