Two thirds of Kyrgyzstan’s population live in rural areas

As a result of 2018, two thirds of the population of Kyrgyzstan (66 percent) lived in rural areas. The National Statistical Committee presented such data.
The number of the resident population of Kyrgyzstan at the beginning of 2019 amounted to 6,389,000 people. However, only 34 percent of them live in cities.
At the beginning of 2019, at least 34 percent of the population were children and teenagers, about 58 percent - working-age people, and about 8 percent - people older than working age.
"There are more than 100 nationalities in the country. The most numerous are the Kyrgyz - 4,696,000 people that is 73.5 percent of the population. In addition, there are 941,000 Uzbeks (14.7 percent) and 349,000 Russians (5.5 percent) in the country," the message says.
